Thermaltake Introduces MS-1 Fan-Heatsink Cooler for SSDs

Thermaltake has unveiled the MS-1, a fan-heatsink cooler designed for SSDs in the M.2-2280 form-factor. This cooler features an extruded aluminium heatsink with a copper heatpipe that helps to efficiently spread heat from the controller across the heatsink. Additionally, Thermaltake provides a thermal pad to be placed between the heatsink and the drive to account for any slight differences in Z-height between the controller, DRAM chip, and NAND flash chips. Another thermal pad is included for components on the reverse side of the drive's PCB, which makes contact with the backplate of the cooler.

The heatsink is equipped with a small fan that can reach speeds of up to 8,000 RPM, delivering 0.44 CFM of airflow at 1.6 mm H₂O static pressure, with a noise level of 16 dBA. Thermaltake guarantees the fan for 60,000 hours of use. The dimensions of the cooler are 74 mm x 23 mm x 17.9 mm, and it is designed to minimize interference in the CPU socket area. Pricing details have not been disclosed by the company.
