ASUS Unveils Next-Generation Workstation Motherboard After CES 2026
Shortly after the conclusion of CES 2026, ASUS has revealed a new workstation motherboard design, generating significant interest within the professional PC hardware community. The company shared a teaser on social media, highlighting a massive EBB format motherboard that was quietly introduced during the Las Vegas event. According to ASUS, this next-generation board is engineered for professionals who require top-tier performance and unwavering stability.
The teaser image showcases a demonstration unit displayed on a sleek black plinth, prominently featuring the ASUS logo and the brand’s well-known “In Search of Incredible” slogan. Notably, this particular motherboard was not available for hands-on inspection by media outlets such as TechPowerUp during their visits to ASUS’s CES showroom.
ASUS’s social media post hinted at the imminent arrival of “the future of workstations,” accompanied by a cryptic link to the ExpertCenter Pro ET900N G3 workstation product page. This system is powered by NVIDIA’s GB300 “Grace Blackwell” ultra desktop superchip, underscoring ASUS’s commitment to supporting the latest high-performance hardware for demanding professional workloads.
Potential Intel-Based Workstation Variant on the Horizon
Industry speculation suggests that an Intel-based ExpertCenter workstation may also be in development. The newly teased W890 Pro WS motherboard is expected to succeed the current Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE model. The preview image reveals an LGA 4710 socket, designed to accommodate Intel’s upcoming Xeon “Granite Rapids-WS” HEDT processor family. This aligns with recent reports of the 86-core flagship “Xeon 698X” SKU making its debut in the news cycle.
The forthcoming ASUS Pro WS motherboard is anticipated to leverage the W890 workstation platform chipset. The board’s expansive layout includes eight DDR5 DIMM slots, seven PCIe x16 slots, and four Gen 5 x4 slots, providing extensive support for memory and expansion cards. Large heatsinks and dual active cooling fans are integrated to ensure optimal thermal management for critical components.
While official pricing details have yet to be announced, the current Pro WS W790E model retails for over $1,600. It is expected that the new W890 Pro WS will launch at a price point closer to $2,000, reflecting its advanced features and next-generation compatibility.
