TerraMaster Launches D1 SSD Pro: High-Performance Portable SSD Enclosure with Thunderbolt 5
TerraMaster has introduced the D1 SSD Pro, a cutting-edge portable SSD enclosure designed to transform M.2 NVMe SSDs into high-speed, portable storage solutions. Engineered for both performance and reliability, the D1 SSD Pro leverages the latest Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 V2 interfaces, delivering up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth for rapid data transfer and seamless connectivity.
Advanced Compatibility and Performance
The D1 SSD Pro supports a range of M.2 SSD form factors, including M.2-2280, M.2-2242, and M.2-2230, with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. While the enclosure is compatible with next-generation Gen 5 SSDs and meets their electrical requirements, data transfer speeds are capped at PCIe Gen 4 x4 (64 Gbps per direction). The robust 80 Gbps upstream bandwidth ensures optimal downstream performance, making it suitable for demanding workflows such as 4K video editing, large-scale backups, and rapid file transfers.
Innovative Fanless Design and Efficient Cooling
Setting itself apart from other high-speed enclosures, the TerraMaster D1 SSD Pro features a fanless design—an uncommon approach for 80 Gbps-class devices. The enclosure is constructed from extruded aluminum, which not only provides durability but also acts as an effective heatsink for both the Thunderbolt 5 bridge chip and the installed M.2 SSD. To further enhance thermal management, TerraMaster includes thermal pads that facilitate efficient heat transfer from the SSD to the enclosure body, ensuring stable performance even under heavy workloads.
Comprehensive Backup Software Included
Recognizing the importance of data protection, TerraMaster bundles its TPC Backupper software with the D1 SSD Pro. This utility enables users to perform comprehensive backups, including whole-volume, whole-disk, and entire system image backups, providing peace of mind for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Availability and Pricing
The TerraMaster D1 SSD Pro is available starting today. The enclosure comes with an 80 Gbps-certified USB Type-C cable to ensure maximum performance out of the box. While the standard retail price is set at $250, TerraMaster is offering an introductory price of $211 for early adopters.
